Workshop and Talk by Jo Avery

The cost for the workshop combined with the talk is £35.00
(£45 for non-members of the Guild).
Should you just wish to join us at 3.00 pm for the talk only, the cost will be £8.00 (£10 for non-members).
Jo has to be one of the most exciting and knowledgeable speakers in the country. We are thrilled that she has agreed to do our very first Zoom workshop and look forward to having as many of you as possible to join us.
The day will be split into two sections: First the workshop from 10 – 2.45 with a short break for lunch. This will be followed at 3.00 by a talk about Jo’s journey to the top of her field.
The Workshop (10.00 am)
Dandelion Clock Block
Jo's Freehand Foundation Piecing technique in this skills-based workshop. We
will be drawing up our own Dandelion Clock on a foundation fabric before
foundation piecing and then tackling wonky improv curves.
Each quarter-block can be used as a stand-alone (measuring 12”) but in our full-day class, you can get started on a full-size quilt! This is a machine sewing class suitable for students with some patchwork experience.
The class will start at 10.00 am and, with a short break for lunch, is expected to
finish at about 2.45 pm. Jo offers a full teaching experience with lots of time
for individual help and the opportunity to share experiences. There is a review

The Talk (3.00 pm)
My Journey through Textiles
A look at my history from designing tapestry kits for my first business when I was 21, through my initial art quilt exploration in the 1990s, right up to my current career as a quilt and embroidery designer and teacher. I will explain why I began writing my blog, how I set up my teaching studio and store, and how I came to publish my first book with US publisher Stash Books!
