Today, April 1, I delivered 26 quilts to the Charity group at Southampton General Hospital. These are to be given to those hospital workers who have felt traumatised by their work during the Covid 19 pandemic.
At the beginning of the year,
members of Romsey Quilters were debating where to give their Charity donations.
At that point I suggested that anyone wishing to donate to Southampton General
Hospital could make a quilt to offer as a “thank you” to those workers.
I made the same suggestion to New Forest Quilt Group and members of Region 3 of the Quilters Guild Facebook Group. There was no stipulation as to colour, size or techniques. I was glad to accept the results of your hard work.
Naturally, you all came up trumps and quilts were directed
to me from all over the area. They have all been made with love and concern for
the wellbeing of our caring NHS staff. Some have a heart as their centre, some are
scrappy, some are block repeats. They are all stunning.
I was delighted and very proud to hand them over to the team at Southampton General. They are incredibly pleased to have them and will make sure that they go to deserving cases.
Thank you all for your efforts. The quilts are gorgeous and will be much appreciated.
